DEDICATION

The Paragon staff and student body would like to dedicate this yearbook to Mrs. Taber in our
appreciation for all her help and guidance, not only in the classroom and clinical areas, but also with
the assistance in student organizations. Her enthusiasm and genuine interest in nursing and teaching
has been made very apparent.

To mold future nurses has been Mrs. Taber's ambition and purpose. She's one who puts her heart
and soul into her profession.

This is but a small token of our appreciation for showing us what the true meaning of "nursing" is
all about. We hope that her work has not been in vain and know that we shall prosper from all the
knowledge, instruction and experiences she has shared with each of us.

WANT TO PLAY MED-SURG?

I

Passed Freshman classes — Nooo problem! Med — Surg won't be that
bad, will it? Go ahead 2 spaces.

Two weeks later, you wonder if your hand will ever be the same again from
taking all those notes! Put a Band-Aid on your finger and advance 3.

Studied long and hard for your first test. You confidently answer the
questions, but get your paper back and find out you passed by three points.
Sadly, go ahead 1 space.

Get your first clinical assignment, and discover you already have drug
cards made out! Advance 2.

On your second week of clinical, you get brave and volunteer to cath a
female patient. You've maintained sterility and just about — whoops! — put
it in the wrong — Oh well! With a red face, go back 3 spaces.

You get a B on your test and successfully give an IM all in one week! Go
ahead 5.

Stay up all night to finish your NPSIP, get it back, and get an UNsatisfac-
tory. You have to do the "#'! thing over again. Lose 2 turns.

You finally get to go to surgery. Congratulations! They took the patient to
recovery instead of you! Advance 2.

At the medicine cart, your instructor quizzes you about Lasix. You blurt
out "All You've Ever Wanted To Know About Ducolax". When you figure
out why she's looking at you like that, go back 1 space.

You got an A on your test!! Go ahead 3 spaces and take an extra turn.

Get your second NPSIP back, and the only section you have to redo is
patho. Go back to the library, then go ahead 1 space.

You've started studying for the final. In fact, you studied so hard last night
that you overslept this morning and missed lecture. Beg for someone's notes
and go back 2.

You've handed in your final, and the instructor is starting the review.
You're biting your lip, your palms are sweating. Cautiously, you count up
your wrong answers. Can it be true? YES!! You passed MED-SURG!!!

The production of a yearbook should be considered a Challenge — a challenge of a person's creativity, patience, &
skill, even though there is a great deal of work involved & many times frustrations. It is an opportunity to recreate the
past school year the way we saw it & made our way through it.

I wish to extend my thanks to those people who did take the time to contribute their talents to our yearbook,
especially Rhonda Fridmanski for her cover design, Janet Graham, our Ad manager, Cheryl Urban for working out the
Juniors pages, & Kim Kleinhans, for her input on the Freshman pages. Without these people, & all the photographers,
the 1983 Paragon would not be in your hands today.

Congratulations To The Class Of 1983

The class of 1983 has gathered for their 10th reunion at O'Leary's Pub, their favorite
night spot, and are coming in one at a time.

First we see Lori Wilson McMahon, still carrying a Paragon in her hand. In her Gremlin
she never got far, so she ditched it and bought a new car.

Following Lori is her side kick Rhonda. As for nursing she is still fond of. She went into
modeling to pursue a career, & now in Cosmopolitan we see her derriere.

Donna Strader is next, who followed her mother's footsteps and had a baby boom. She
manages to find time to work in Intensive Care because she found a good babysitter so
she could be there.

Oh look! Here comes the anesthetist of our class. Sandy worked hard, she didn't sit on
her — gluteus maximus. Her office hours from 9-2, so she can watch Charlie Chan and
Scoobie Doo.

Here's Thomasina who doesn't like to drive, stepping out of a cab with Tommy paying
the tab. She's back in E.R. assessing away since she loves it so much, she's there to stay.

In walks Diane, so sweet her patients would not neglect, she's always displays a pleasant
affect. Since schools been out, her social life has resumed, Knowledge & wisdom are not
all that has been consumed.

Here are Janie & Dick. After all these years, he can still flick her Bic. She's at LMC in
Intermediate Care we see And she's as happy as can be.

In walks Kathy White with child again. Brandon was only the first of ten. In Peds she
finally had to be a quitter since Randy got tired of being a babysitter.

Here comes Carol & her sweetie the MD. Together they run Paris Hospital OB. You no
longer see her yellow camaro on the street, but as every cop knows she never got beat.

Who can forget Donnalee? According to her mother, she left with a yellow tote bag on
her shoulder & took a loan. She hit the road, whereabouts unknown.

Angela is still at LMC, but not in Nursing. Shy's drawing more cartoons to make patients
laugh. She visits OB from time to time & can shimmy to "Wipe Out" just to unwind.

Celester is finally catching up on her sleep & no longer weary. She drives a Cadillac,
with a new diamond each day. She's fulfilled all her dreams, things have gone her way.

Dena — always so quiet & shy. She has kept her figure dancing burlesque on the side.
She always maintains dignity on the floor, but who knows what goes on behind closed
doors.

Cathy McFarland & Jay are still together. Tell us Cathy, is this one forever? She still
catches glances with her blue eyes and blond hair, after 10 years that's quite rare.

Connie, a top student in our class. No one knows it takes her 2 hours to get ready for
bed. Hardees wonders what happened to the little red car, we say like Martha, she's
become a star.

Here comes Joda, 30 minutes late. What can we say, she got the right date. She's now
an MD, with her own hours. Pt.'s don't know if she's in surgery or out picking flowers.

Kari, a passive one of the roster. We never knew we'd created a monster. Assertiveness
now is no problem for Kari, just ask Stan, the man she finally married.

Janice, still at school for the VA. By 2020, she'll be paid back half way. With her Masters
in 4 fields, she still loves to chat. With her favorite saying, "I'll drink to that"

Joann at LMC & Director of the floor, for carrying bedpans there are no more. Now she
has ten kids with the ability to still care.

Here's Janeanne with ber hubby at her side. She works PM's at LMC, & appears to PG3.

Following Janeanne is her roomie Janet. She's turned all the men down, although rumor
has it she's about to give in. Some lucky man is about to give in.

The phone is ringing at the side, It's Donnalee wanting a ride. Some say she's married a

MD & has 5 sons. Just what she has wanted — money and fun.

KARI AND DONNALEE
